Maurizio Pradeaux was an Italian film director and screenwriter known for his contributions to the giallo genre—a style of Italian thriller and horror films. He began his career as a production assistant, collaborating with director Emimmo Salvi. Pradeaux made his directorial debut with the Spaghetti Western Ramon the Mexican (1967). He wrote the screenplays for all the films he directed, many of which are categorized as giallo. Notable works include Death Carries a Cane (1973) and Death Steps in the Dark (1977). In the late 1980s to early 2000s, Pradeaux focused on distributing soft erotic films and Asian cinema through his company, Megastar Pictures. Later in life, he authored historical novels such as Raffaela e La Fornarina and L'Amore Occulto.
